💥HORSE POWER… 👇 💥The year is 1769. Enter onto the steam engine scene: James Watts. He needed a way to show that savings from a new steam engine machine would offset the cost of buying it. But for that…he needed to measure the savings, which meant he had to find a way to summarize what the horses dragging the carts and driving the pumps in the mine were doing… He looked no further than to the power of the horses themselves.. The clever Watts calculated that a horse could tug a 500-pound weight steadily and with ease, then, he did the math to calculate the rate at which an average horse could keep working through a long day. He measured their strength, agility, stamina… 💥BOOM. The birth of the term “HORSE POWER” 💥 Still to this very day, horsepower is used to describe engines all over the world. #Horses are the ultimate reflection of power, agility, resilience and strength. They have played an invaluable role in history and in the development of our modern society. Respect them. Appreciate them. Thank them. Horses are the sh*t !!!! 🐴: Camar 📸: @ride_in_essaouira 📚: Info cited from the book “Electric Universe” by @davidbodanis ℹ️ ALSO I recommend the book “E=MC2” by him as well to any of the #science & history loving fellow nerds!!! 🥰🎥 @nncenzi #history #horses #horsepower #morocco #facts #sunset #ocean #writersofinstagram #poets #travel #read #knowledgeispower #Godisgood #power #lovehorses
