Next up for Whitmore is to lead the post parade inaugural Whitmore Stakes, a race formerly called the Hot Springs which he won four times, and which Oaklawn Park has renamed in his honor. Oaklawn will be celebrating Whitmore Day on March 19th in hopes the fan favorite can be available for photo opps and a retirement party of sorts.
