DESCRIPTION
"Retraining Goals" spotlights retired racehorses in second careers. In this recurring segment, we follow a different horse and rider combination in-training each month, gaining insight on their challenges + triumphs from meltdowns to ribbons along the way! This segment is presented by The Retired Racehorse Project.
When Jordan saw 3-year-old Lanse step off the trailer for a layoff at Crestwood Farm (her workplace), she knew he was something special. What she found out next was serendipitous— he wasn’t going back to the racetrack and he needed a new home. Immediately Jordan called dibs and voila-- Lanse is trying his hand in several areas of competition, including the hunter ring, jumper ring, and cross-country course.
Jordan had put some savings away in hopes of buying a “weanling project.”
But through a story on social media, she was led to Barry Lee, a former successful Sagamore runner who’d fallen down the claiming ranks. Barry arrived underweight, but Jordan had him in a competition with just 15 rides off the track! Find out how she is bringing these guys along on her Retraining Goals debut!
Barry & Lanse's Pedigree:
Lanse: More Than Ready - Union Flag
Barry: Violence - Light of a Star
