Many of you met Whinnie in a quiet, tender moment with one of our children. This is another part of her story. Whinnie is 28 and retired. She has the freedom to wander, graze, rest, choose her company, and decide when she would like to come say hello. Time to simply be a horse is not separate from her wellbeing—it is central to it. Before a horse can offer steadiness and comfort to another being, their own needs for safety, choice, rest, movement, and connection must be respected. Their wellbeing is not separate from the work. It is the ground the work stands on. The moments Whinnie shares with children are meaningful. So are the ordinary moments that belong only to her: a quiet pasture, a mouthful of grass, and nowhere else she needs to be. We are grateful for Whinnie, not only for what she offers people, but for who she is. And extra grateful for @hazelnutfarms.ny for sharing her with us all. 🥰🎥 @stablefriendshipsfoundation #hippotherapy #equineassistedtherapy #equinewelfare #retiredhorses #stablefriendships #horses #cuteanimals #therapy #nature #animals
