I spent years convinced that my unconventional brain was more of a liability than a strength. It felt like society was on a mission to underscore that belief with a barrage of, “you should be able to...” and “what’s wrong with you?” comments. This only deepened my sense of shame and the nagging thought that somehow, my brain wasn’t “right.” Yes, I’ve got ADHD and dyslexia. But society didn’t know nearly as much as we know now about these areas. School felt like running an obstacle course blindfolded—each hurdle reinforcing my fear that I simply didn’t measure up. But the script flipped in PT school. Suddenly, the human body was like a language I instinctively understood. Images imprinted in my mind with ease, and I could spot the subtlest shifts in movement—a skill I thought was commonplace but soon realized was anything but. Embracing these unique abilities, I’ve woven them into every facet of my life, particularly in my work with horses. Horses think differently from us, yet we often box them into human expectations, pushing them when they don’t conform. Recognizing this pattern is eye-opening, and once you see it, there’s no turning back. To my fellow unconventional equestrians, let your voice be heard. Don’t wilt under the weight of traditional expectations. Instead, let your light shine brightly as a beacon, guiding us away from outdated conventions towards a path ripe for transformation. It’s time for some changes …. Make sure to share with your fellow unconventional equestrians. We all love to know we aren’t alone❤️ Peace & Love Melissa & Linus 🥰🎥 @melissajeanpt #linusthedonkey #donkey #donkeysanctuary #donkeyoftheday #donkeyofinstagram #rescueismyfavoritebreed #Workingwithhorses #horsemanship #horsefriends #dominancetheory #mindfulnesswithhorses #horsetraining #growth #keepgrowing #holistichorse #holistichorsetraining #holistichorsehealth #holistichorsemanagement #horsehumanconnection #horsehumanbond #voiceforanimals #voiceforthevoiceless #adhd #adhdawareness #adhdwomen #neurodivergent
