For skijoring most of us ‘sharp shoe’ our horses. I use shoes with barium. There’s a variety of styles and ways to add traction to horse shoes. Some people sharp shoe with little screw in cleats or welded on cleats. I like the barium because it provides traction, they don’t wear fast and I can use them multiple winters. I also like that they aren’t ‘sharp’ like a screw in clear that a horse could hurt them selves or kick and hurt another horse. Safety in skijoring is a huge priority for us. Proper gear and footing, for skiers and horses, are among top priorities. If you’ve ever been to a race you’ve seen us out there constantly adjusting the track, even in the middle of a race. If you haven’t been to a race we’re kicking off the season January 10 in Ridgeway Colorado! 🥰🎥 @tmhokens #skijor #horseshoe #horses #wintersports #cowgirl #equestrian #western #ski #farrier
