On a bright, sunny day, we rode through the El Chorro valley with Capitán. We quickly forgot our daily worries as we found ourselves surrounded by steep cliffs, deep ravines, and a clear blue sky. This is what winter in Spain can look like. We followed the paths up the valley until we reached a hidden plateau. It was surprisingly green and fertile, a place where people once grew crops and lived off the land. While crossing this valley, we saw mountain goats moving easily along the rocky slopes. They watched us from a distance, perfectly at home in a way we never could be. Continuing onward, we arrived at the highest point of the Arabian Steps. No one knows exactly who built these ancient stairs, but many believe they are over 500 years old. Not far from here is the Caminito del Rey, a popular destination for travelers who want to walk along the steep walls of El Chorro. Once known as one of the world’s most dangerous trails, it was restored and is now safe to explore. Its suspension bridge is a highlight of the region. We felt lucky to see it all on horseback, enjoying a unique view of this stunning landscape. Some places make you feel small in the best way possible. This is one of them. 🥰🎥 @costacaballo #natureescape #mountains #horses #adventures #travel
