➰ Sometimes, the bravest thing we can do is be still. To sit in the company of another and let our guard down. Smokey reminds me: regulation isn’t always about movement. It’s about meeting yourself—exactly as you are. For a long time, I thought I was regulating through movement. I ran marathons—mile after mile—trying to outrun what my body truly needed: Stillness. Presence. A moment to just be. Movement is powerful. But like all things, without its opposite—stillness—it can throw us off balance. It took horses to teach me that. And I’m still learning.
