I incorporate trotting jumps on a loose rein with all my horses, even my top level horses! Here’s why 👇 1. Horses need their head and neck to jump - being on a loose rein gives them the freedom to fully use their head and neck through the jump. 2. Trotting fences teaches them to slow down and learn how to use their body which helps them to improve their shape over the fence! 3. Being on a loose rein teaches them to look for the jumps without as much guidance from the rider. We don’t want to have to micromanage every step. 4. Occasionally in competition, especially on xc, you might find yourself in the trot heading to a fence... If trotting fences is a part of your regular training, then you and your horse will have the confidence to jump whatever is in front of you! Do you incorporate trotting fences into your training routine? 👇 🥰🎥 @dana.cooke #horses #equestrian #horsemanship #showjumping #horseriding
