Don’t do this. Don’t use your fingers or a sharp object to run down from the sacrum to the points of the buttock. This creates a reflexive response, and the horse is unable to sustain the contraction. Try this instead. Do contact laterally to the base of the tail at the point of the buttock, place a hand on either side of the tail, and gently scratch up and down until you achieve the desired pelvic tilt. This allows for the horse to hold the contraction.
